Tools: a plastic bottle, a pen cap, modelling clay, pebbles (decoration), water, a beaker

Process:

1. Put the pen cap in the beaker filled with water. If it floats on the surface, attach some modelling clay so that it floats in an upright position with the end with opening being free.
2. Put the diver (pen cap) in the plastic bottle filled with water all the way to the top and close it.
3. Squeeze the sides of the bottle and observe the diver.
4. Draw a scheme of the bottle with diver in your notebook.
5. Record your observation.

Pomôcky: plastová fľaša, vrchnák z pera, plastelína, kamienky (dekorácia), voda, kadička

Postup:

1. Ponor vrchnák z pera do kadičky s vodou. Ak pláva na hladine vody, pripevni naň plastelínu tak, aby stál kolmo na hladinu, pričom otvor vrchnáka musí zostať voľný.
2. Vlož potápača (vrchnák z pera) do plastovej fľaše, ktorá je naplnená po okraj jej hrdla vodou, a uzavri ju.
3. Stláčaj boky fľaše a pozoruj správanie potápača.
4. Nakresli si schému fľaše s potápačom do zošita.
5. Zaznamenaj si to čo pozoruješ.

Záver: Keď stlačíme boky fľaše, potápač sa ponorí. Vtedy vo fľaši vzniká tlak a vzduchová bublina v pere sa zmenši. Vrchnák z pera zväčší svoju hmotnosť a bude klesať ku dnu. Keď fľašu pustíme, vzduchová bublina sa znovu zväčší. Vrchnák z pera vypláva nahor, pretože jeho hmotnosť sa zmanši.

Conclusion: When we squeeze the sides of the bottle the diver immerses. Pressure builds up in the bottle and the air bubble in the pen cap becomes smaller. The pen cap increases its weight and will start to sink. When we release the bottle, the air bubble will increase again. The pen cap will float up, because its weight decreases.
